About Best Water Filter
Best Water Filter reviews home water filtration systems using a published scoring formula rather than editorial opinion. We compare specifications, third-party certifications and verified owner ratings, and we tell you plainly what we have not tested.
Why this site exists
Water filtration is unusually hard to shop for. Every manufacturer claims to remove "99% of contaminants" without saying which ones. Systems that look identical differ by a factor of ten in price. And the honest answer to "which filter should I buy" depends on something most buyers have never checked: what is actually in their water.
So this site does three things. It scores products on criteria you can verify. It explains what the specifications mean. And it says which system suits which situation, rather than pretending one product wins for everyone.
Who runs it
[To be completed before launch.] This section needs a real name, a real reason for starting the site, and any genuine relevant experience. It is the most-read part of an about page and the part search quality raters weight most heavily.
How we evaluate products
Every product gets a score out of 100, calculated the same way for all of them: owner ratings weighted by review volume, third-party certification, filtration stages, and warranty length — each measured against what is achievable in that product's category rather than against a perfect product that does not exist. The weights, the benchmarks and the reasoning are published in full.
We do not lab-test filters. We have no testing facility, and we would rather say so than imply testing we have not done. What we do is compare verifiable data across a large number of products, which is a different thing and useful in its own right.
How the site makes money
Affiliate commission. When you buy through a link here, the retailer pays us a percentage at no extra cost to you. Scores are calculated rather than chosen, so commission cannot influence them — the full explanation is on the affiliate disclosure page.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, we want to know and we will fix it. Specifications change, products get discontinued, and certifications lapse. Tell us and we will correct the page and note when it was updated.
